What Interests Me?
Some people already know the answer to this question, and the most obvious answers, if you have looked at any of the rest of this site, are:- Exploring the British Isles
- Photography
However, these pages are for my other interests, some of which are hinted at elsewhere, but this is where they will live. The buttons on the left will guide you through my key interests, which are:
- Architecture, in particular churches and ancient buildings.
- Cars Anything built from 1885-now, but especially 1945-1980.
- History particularly pre-Tudor & Industrial.
- Steam Engines Both road-going and railways.
- Toy Cars! I own far too many!
Roads
In addition to the above, I am a contributor to The Sabre Wiki on British & Irish Roads, and my article on Knoydart's Roads won Article of the Month in August 2009. I also wrote an article on the the Three Generations of the A82 for CBRD.Riley Cars
I also 'maintain' a site called Rob's Riley Pages, which after being lost in the wilderness for a few years should now be back on track and receiving regular updates in the not too distant future.Walking & Cycling
When the weather is good (unlike today), I also do my best to get out in the fresh air and explore the Highlands by foot or bike. As mentioned elsewhere, I have already climbed about 50 Munros, and in the 4 years since I moved to Scotland, I have walked something like 1600miles and cycled 500. Of course, I have driven the better part of 40-50,000 miles too, but I do live a long way from anywhere! A number of my walks and cycle rides are detailed in these pages.I have also put a few of my favourite walks on line for you to take a look!
